A location point is an invisible spot in the hall plan with its own QR code – for example for a poster at the entrance. Whoever scans the code sees the plan of the current event right there, with “You are here” and the viewing direction.
Placing it in the hall plan designer
- 1Choose the tool
“Location point (QR code)” (key Q) and click where the poster will hang.
- 2Fill in the properties
Name – visitors see it as “You are here: …”. Surroundings: how far the map zooms in when it opens. Viewing direction: a cone showing where people look while standing at the poster; rotate it at the round handle in the plan. Plus an internal note.
- 3Save
Only after saving does the QR code lead to this point.
- 4Get the QR code
In the properties as PNG (about 2000 px, for posters) or SVG (for print shops), plus “Test” and the address to copy. In the ☰ menu under “Location points (QR codes)…” all points at once: “All as PNG”, “All as SVG” and “Print overview (A4)”.
Edge length of the code ≈ reading distance ÷ 10 – a poster read from 1.5 m needs a code of about 15 cm. Keep the white margin.
Where the code leads
The QR code contains an address of the form https://your-site.com/?eem_sp=id. The plugin looks for the event with this point: first the running one, then the next upcoming one, then the most recent past one. In the event, “Hall Plans” box, section “Location points (QR codes) & full-screen map”, you set:
| Field | Effect |
|---|---|
| Target page for QR codes | The page with your hall plan shortcode. Without a selection, the plugin’s full-screen map opens (default). |
| Page of the exhibitor list | Where the link “To the exhibitor list” leads. Without a selection, the plugin’s full-screen list. |
On a page of your own, the hall plan takes the point from the address (?eem_spot=id) or fixed from the shortcode: [event_hall_plan parent_id="500" spot="id"].
Next year
- If you take the plan over as a template for the new event in the designer, the IDs are kept – posters that are already up then lead to the new event as soon as it is the current one.
- For single points there is “Same place as …”: the point takes over the ID of a location point of another event.
- “New ID” creates a new code – printed posters of the old one no longer lead here.
Scans
Real visitors are counted – not logged-in editors, not “Test” from the designer and not preview requests from messengers and search engines. The designer shows the number per point, e.g. “12 scans”, in the properties and in the list of location points.
The points themselves don’t appear in the published plan. For a set-up plan, “Location points in PNG/SVG/print” in the ☰ menu shows them in the exports.
